Geometry of Entanglement Sudden Death: Explicit Examples

In open quantum systems, entanglement can vanish faster than coherence. This phenomenon is usually called sudden death of entanglement. In [M. O. Terra Cunha, New J. Phys. 9, 237 (2007)] a geometrical explanation was offered and a classification of all possible scenarios was given. Some classes were exemplified, but it was still an open question whether there were examples for the other ones. T...

Explicit Examples of Birationally Rigid Fano Varieties

We construct explicit examples of divisorially canonical Fano double spaces. Their direct products are birationally rigid Fano varieties with finitely many structures of a rationally connected fiber space. 2000 Math. Subj. Class. 14E05.

On the Topological Interpretation of Gravitational Anomalies

We consider the mixed gravitational-Yang-Mills anomaly as the coupling between the K-theory and K-homology of a C∗-algebra crossed product. The index theorem of Connes-Moscovici allows to compute the Chern character of the K-cycle by local formulae involving connections and curvatures. It gives a topological interpretation to the anomaly, in the sense of noncommutative algebras. MSC91: 19D55, 8...

New Anomalies in Topological String Theory

We show that the topological string partition function with D-branes on a compact Calabi-Yau manifold has new anomalies that spoil the recursive structure of the holomorphic anomaly equation and introduce dependence on wrong moduli (such as complex structure moduli in the A-model), unless the disk one-point functions vanish. This provides a microscopic explanation for the recent result of Walch...

Topological partial * - algebras : Basic properties and examples

Let A be a partial *-algebra endowed with a topology that makes it into a locally convex topological vector space AA]. Then A is called a topological partial *-algebra if it satisses a number of conditions, which all amount to require that the topology ts with the multiplier structure of A. Besides the obvious cases of topological quasi *-algebras and CQ*-algebras, we examine several classes of...
